Hanging Lake Glenwood Canyon CO
Nature photographs

These photographs from Hanging Lake were taken in September 12, 2011. Hanging Lake is by some considered one of the most beautiful spots in Colorado. (It is also designated as a National Natural Landmark.) It is located in Glenwood Canyon, near the city of Glenwood Springs on Interstate 70. The trail that leads to the lake is a little more than a mile, but it is a very steep climb, gaining over 1200 feet in elevation. (The trail can be seen in picture 6 below.) And as a bonus, when you get there, you can also climb up higer to see more views and more waterfalls. These photos were taken along the trail up to the lake (following Dead Horse Creek which flows into and out of Hanging Lake). Also included are photos taken above the lake.
Currently, a trail permit is required for this trail. Information on obtaining a permit can be found in the first link below.
